This is an editorial series that I created based on the article of “Sociology in Fantasia”. In the article “Sociology in Fantasia”, the author makes an analysis of how real-life player behaviors is mirrored into an online setting as it comes with the player. Players sometimes enter fantasy games with more of a real-life mindset in mind when approaching how they play, such as prefer to grind for resources or other online riutals that they find value in. This inspired me to make these pieces with a “Through the looking glass” theme in mind, with a focus on regular everyday activities that had a window into the fictional video game world. The woman at the diner thinking she sees Samus, the reflection of Sonic in the puddle as a runner goes on his morning jog, and waking up to find a minotaur staring back at you in the mirror was my way of handling the theme I wanted to tackle with this project.
